DIY Classroom Supply Bouquet

By Kelly · Updated 2026-10-17

A classroom supply bouquet provides teachers with essential tools for the school year while maintaining a polished, professional presentation. This project uses floral foam and wooden skewers to transform standard markers and sticky notes into a functional desk arrangement that will not wilt or require maintenance.

Estimating Your Project Costs

Felt-Tip Marker Bouquet

Adults · 25 min · about $15

  1. Trim the dry floral foam block with a utility knife until it fits snugly inside the terra cotta pot, stopping 1/2 inch below the rim.
  2. Lay a marker flat and place a bamboo skewer against the back of it, ensuring the skewer overlaps the marker by at least 3 inches.
  3. Secure the skewer to the marker using a 2-inch piece of clear packing tape, wrapping it tightly around the barrel.
  4. Insert the first skewer into the center of the foam. Insert subsequent skewers at varying heights by pushing them deeper into the foam to create a tiered effect.
  5. Pack green paper crinkle filler around the base of the skewers to hide the foam and tape.
  6. Check the balance of the pot; if it feels top-heavy, add small stones to the bottom of the pot before inserting the foam.

Sticky Note Sunflower Arrangement

Adults · 20 min · about $12

  1. Fill the metal bucket with dry floral foam, ensuring it is wedged tight so it does not shift.
  2. Apply a 1-inch line of hot glue to the top of a bamboo skewer.
  3. Press the glued end of the skewer onto the center of the cardboard backing of a sticky note pad and hold for 30 seconds.
  4. Repeat this process for 5-6 pads, allowing the glue to cure completely before moving them.
  5. Insert the skewers into the foam, angling the outer pads slightly outward to mimic flower petals.
  6. Tie the burlap ribbon around the exterior of the bucket in a simple square knot.

The Highlighting & Correction Kit

Adults · 30 min · about $20

  1. Fill the mason jar two-thirds full with Epsom salt or white sand to act as a weighted stabilizer.
  2. Attach skewers to the back of the highlighters using clear glue dots for a cleaner look than packing tape.
  3. For correction tape dispensers, apply two glue dots to the skewer and press firmly against the flat side of the plastic housing.
  4. Push the skewers into the sand, placing the tallest items in the back and shorter items in the front.
  5. Clean any dust from the outside of the glass with a microfiber cloth.
  6. Tie the satin ribbon around the neck of the jar in a double bow.

For the best visual results, choose a color palette for your supplies, such as all primary colors or various shades of blue and green, to make the bouquet look intentional rather than cluttered.
